Change in the Host RAM size - Console does not recognize the change

    Hi,

Initially the RAM size for the Host server showed up as 1024MB in the Management Console > Resource > Hosts section. I fixed the Host server, now it has 2048MB, the minimun required. But the Hosts section in the Console still shows that I have 1024MB instead of 2048MB. What do I need to do to update the RAM size for the host in the Console?

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

The RAM size of the host is reported by the host agent on startup.  Can you include the contents of /proc/meminfo here?

    Praveen--

Do you mean that the Pooled RAM column still says 1024 MB or that the Installed RAM in the Details tab says 1024 MB?

Once a host has already been added to a pool, the amount of RAM the host contributes to the pool (i.e. how much RAM VQMS can consume while provisioning VMs to that host) is a fixed value regardless of whether you physically install more RAM in the host.  You can change this amount of Pooled RAM without having to remove and re-add the host to the Pool.  Click the Resources tab, click the Hosts view icon, click the specific Host in the list, click the Show Host Utilization icon that looks like a dashboard guage, then in the new window that appears, click the Edit icon that looks like a pencil.

It was the Installed RAM in the Details tab that said 1024 MB. It seems I did not wait enough time for the refresh to happen after rebooting the Host machine. It showed the correct RAM size after around 15 minutes.

    David/Richard,

Thank you guyz for taking time to answer this.
