requirement to add an additional hard drive (vmdk) to an application configuration

    Hi

what is the best method to add an additional hard drive to an existing application configuration

what we are trying to do is if a user has a running application configuration deployed but requires more hard disk space, the ability to attach a new vmdk to the system so that the user can then format the drive within the deployed O/S as a new drive so gaining extra disk space for his deployment

The only way i can see at the moment is to create a new server and application configuration

    Cheers

    Ian

     Ian,

That would be the best way to add the drive.  If he needs to keep the current changes to the image, you could snapshot and promote the current work, then add the new blank drive to the new server/app configs created after the promote.

You could also expand the existing drive after the promote, and use a partition tool to expand the current partition and file system.
