    Snapshots problem

    It's me again ;-]

I'm encountering a problem saving snapshots. I receive the following error when I make the attempt:

    State: Saving snapshot...
Message: Surgient.Platform.Exceptions.AutomationException: 00370008 An error occurred creating a snapshot for on virtual machine JFS3QESX011-PoolVm-5: 00350008 The command 'make directory' failed on server Surgient.Platform.Types.Server: (Source:Surgient.DotNetFiles) Access to the path '\\10.22.234.201\ImageLib\Snapshots\oalbilla2\46d60a71-367b-4a13-92d3-5e2a37140fda\' is denied...

I have the images stored on an NFS server where it looks like the snapshots are also targeted. I have checked that the VQMS server accout has privileges in this directory as well as the Surgient agent account running on the NFS server. I have even set the privileges to rwx all without success.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thanks

    Orlando

    Re: Snapshots problem

    Orlando,

The best way to debug this is to login as the user that the "Surgient Agent for Microsoft.NET" is running as and attempt to create a directory in the "\\10.22.234.201\ImageLib\Snapshots\oalbilla2\" directory from your Library machine.

When the Surgient Agent is accessing the exported file system, it is doing via SAMBA.  Please check the configuration of your "smb.conf" file and make sure the permissions are correct there.  Did something change?

    Thanks,
    Viloun

The permissions don't seem to be the problem as far as I can see. I had originally mounted the share in the VQMS server using that account and created a folder without any problems. However, based on your response, I went to the console and tested permissions there as well. Still no luck. Everything seems to be set up correctly.

    Thanks

    Re: Snapshots problem

I neglected to mention another interesting fact.

If I use the "Save As" button rather than the "Snapshot" button, I have no problems at all. The subdirectories are created on the NFS server without incident ,admittedly only one deep unlike the Snapshots. However, I was able to create subfolders to any desired depth from the VQMS server when I mounted the share.

    Thanks

    Re: Snapshots problem

    Orlando,

Can you attach the agent.log files from the Library machine?  This could help us debug the issue.  Go ahead and zip all the logs in the C:\Program Files\Surgient\Agent\ directory.

    Thanks,

    Viloun
