    Student - Instructor interaction

In the WebEx presentation given by Jim Recker (Products, VTMS, Resources) he discusses providing students immediate feedback on their learning experience. I am curious as to what tools are employed within Virtual Labs environment.  That is, what features within the Virtual lab environment promote faculty-student interaction?  For example, is there an annotation tool or other pointer (independent of the mouse pointer) that will enable an Instructor to lead the student to click at an appropriate location?

We do provide instructors the ability to shadow students so that they can see what a student is doing or assist accordingly.  We have other customers that use an exam concept and go into the VMs and grade the student's work after the fact.  We have been talking to Summit about the possibility of an integration.  They do testing and certification solutions.  And of course, custom solutions are always possible.

    Thanks,

    Jackie,

Can you please summarize what is meant by shadow?  Is it just looking at the same screen or are you saying that there are additional features such as markup capabilities?

    Thanks!!  HiEdTechie

Shadowing is like remote control.  It launches a shared RDP desktop into the student session and either of you can control the mouse and keyboard.  It enables the instructor to watch the student or take over and show the student what to do.  Once again, we're basically taking advantage of existing RDP functionality.
