Mouse issue when converting image from MSVS to ESX environment (XP, Win2003)

When converting an image that was developed in an MSVS environment to an ESX compatible image, you might encounter an issue where the mouse doesn't work in console access (but does in RDP.)  The issue is an orphaned mouse driver and a mouse driver update is required.  This issue might not be noticeable in an image in a staged environment and then appear in a Surgient deployed image.

The following steps will resolve this issue.

    •  control panel > Add or remove Programs > VMWare Tools > Change
    • Installation Wizard for VMWare Tools > Next > Modify, Next
    • VMWare Device Drivers > Mouse Driver > x this feature will not be available > Next > Modify > Finish
    • Reboot VM
    • When VM comes backup, it will detect a mouse with no driver and will install the driver.  It will want to reboot..again.  Let it reboot.

You can avoid this problem if you uninstall the MSVS Additions before migrating the VHD to VMware
